Thank You Reception Hosted by Minister of Health in Ghana

Towards the end of our time in Ghana, we hosted the Minister of Health for Ghana along with the vice President and then later the next week the President of Ghana John Kufour at two separate Receptions on board the ship. We wanted to thank them for Partnering with us and for all their help in making our stay in Ghana possible. They waived port fees, waived the need for visa's for all our incoming crew and assisted us in many many ways. Both events went really well and it was an honour to have these high ranking Government officials on board the ship. As a member of the Ship Management Team Brenda was directly involved in hosting our visitors.

Both the Minister of Health and the President were visibly moved with emotion. They wanted to thank us for all that we achieved in serving & helping the poor & needy of Ghana.

By way of Thank You the Minister then made an invitation to all the Mercy Ships crew to a Reception hosted by himself and other key Health Care Leaders in Ghana. This was a great honour. On Friday 23rd February, all the crew were picked up from the ship in a fleet of coaches and were driven into the town centre, with several Police Motorcycle Escorts!! This was great fun as we flew through the traffic, sirens blazing, police lights flashing. The picture below shows Brenda receiving a presentation at the Reception along with other members of the Management Team. It was a lovely evening with aBuffet, live African Band and Dancing.
