The purpose of our stay in Gran Canaria is for the Ship to go into dry dock for required maintenance. As dry dock is an unsafe environment for children, our friend Rick Menzies who is the Director of Mercy Ships Spain, worked tirelessly in advance of our arrival to secure hotel accommodation for the families of the Africa Mercy (around 20 families in total). He did an amazing job and secured accommodation for us all at 4 different hotels. Not only did he secure these great places to stay he also introduced each of the Hotel Managers and staff to Mercy Ships and the work we do in Africa for the poor & needy. Their response was incredible and they offered our stay completely free of charge, all inclusive. We or Mercy Ships do not have to pay a penny. What an incredible Blessing and gift from God!
We are staying at the Hotel IFA Interclub Atlantic down on the Southern coast of the Island with 4 other families. You will find more photos if you click on the photo link on the left.
The picture below was taken by Hotel staff, with the Manager on the left. Unfortunately our men folk only got to enjoy the Hotel at night and also this weekend, as they have had to travel daily to the ship to work during this vital technical time.
