Christmas on the ship this year was very different from last year on the Anastasis. Last year the Anastasis was in the port of Ghana so we had an African Christmas. As we are in Europe this year many crew have travelled home for Christmas and because we are in between Field Services many of our Programmes staff have left. New crew will start to arrive around the end of January before we sail back to Liberia (currently scheduled sailing date is 30th January 2008) Added to this we have many crew who have decided to go on vacation whilst in Tenerife. This means we have a very small crew on board. Nevertheless it has been really lovely.
On Christmas Eve we had a Spanish Santa come by to visit with all the children from the ship which was an unexpected treat.
We had our Christmas meal on Christmas Eve and also our Christmas Service.
On Christmas Day we had a lovely brunch and then the rest of the day was family time until the evening when around 12 families on board opened up their cabins for "Open House" It was lovely to visit and share fellowship.
